Virginia Tech provides the XpressConnect service to simplify connecting to eduroam at Virginia Tech. When a student, faculty, or staff connects a wireless-enabled device to the campus network for the first time, the Cloudpath XpressConnect wizard will provide steps to authenticate the user, configure the device, and quickly connect to the secure eduroam wireless network; after the device's initial configuration and connection, each subsequent connection to eduroam will be automatically authenticated and connected.
University Services is a Windows 2003 Child Domain of the Hokies Active Directory that is centrally administrated by CCS. It is an end-user driven domain oriented toward desktop computers. If you place your computer in this domain, you will benefit from the enhanced security that comes from being a part of the Virginia Tech Active Directory structure.
The maximum upload permitted from an on-campus computer to an off-campus location is 4.7 GB in a twenty-four hour period. If you exceed the bandwidth limit, you will receive the following email message:

Central Authentication Service (CAS) is a central logon service that enables you to access multiple applications by typing your PID and password credentials one time. Once logged into CAS, you can visit any Web application that uses CAS authentication without having to log on again. CAS is available to Web applications that use the Virginia Tech PID for authentication.
