To download and install Norton AntiVirus 9.0.2:

1. Go to the Symantec AntiVirus Downloads page (http://antivirus.vt.edu/download/).
   Important: This Symantec AntiVirus download is available at no charge for current Virginia Tech students, faculty, staff, and retirees only.

2. In the Macintosh section, click the Download link.
3. In the User ID text box, type your PID.
   Note: If you are using Safari: In the Name text box, type your PID.

4. In the Password text box, type your password.
5. Click OK.
6. Open the Install for OS X folder.
   • If you have the Norton AntiVirus 9.0 Corp icon on your desktop:
     1. Double-click the Norton AntiVirus 9.0 Corp icon.
     2. Double-click the Install for OS X folder.
   • If you have the Install for OS X folder on your desktop, double-click it.
7. Double-click the Norton AntiVirus Installer icon.
8. An Authenticate window will open. In the Name text box, type the name of an account with computer administrator privileges.
9. In the Password or Phrase text box, type your password.
10. Click OK.
11. In the Welcome to Norton AntiVirus Product Installation window, click the Continue button.
12. In the Important Information window, click the Continue button.
13. In the Software License Agreement page, click the Continue button.
14. Click the Agree button.
15. Click the Continue button.
16. Click the Install button or the Update button.
17. Click the Continue Installation button.
18. To run LiveUpdate, click the Yes button.
19. To restart your computer, click the Restart button.
    Notes:

    • After the restart, if you receive a "Norton AutoProtect" error message, click OK. The error will fix itself when you run LiveUpdate again.
    • If you receive a "SymEvent.kext" error message,click the Don't Use button. The error will fix itself when you run LiveUpdate again.

20. From the Go menu, select Applications.
21. Double-click the Norton AntiVirus icon.
22. Click the LiveUpdate button.
23. Click the Update Everything Now button.
24. Click OK.
25. Click the Norton Scheduler button.
26. Click the New button.
27. Click the AntiVirus Scan button.
28. In the Enter a Name for the Task text box, type a name for the scan.
29. Click the Browse button.
30. Select your hard drive.
31. Click the Select button.
32. From the Set a Frequency drop-down list, select Daily.
33. In the Set the Time text box, type a time of day you know your computer will be running.
34. Click the Save button.
35. Close the Norton Scheduler window.
36. From the LiveUpdate menu, select Quit LiveUpdate.
37. From the Norton AntiVirus menu, select Quit Norton AntiVirus.
38. Close the Applications window.
