Creating or Changing Your Network Password

Question:
How do I create or change my network password?
Answer:
  1. Go to the Change Network Password Web page.
  2. If prompted to log on to Central Authentication Service (CAS):
    1. In the Username text box, type your Virginia Tech PID.
    2. In the Password text box, type your PID password. If you have forgotten your PID password, follow the instructions at Changing Forgotten PID Password with Account Recovery Options.
    3. Click the Login button.
  3. In the Password text box, type a new network password.
  4. Note: The network password must have at least one upper-case character, at least one special character, and must be at least 8 characters long. For further information on requirements, on the right of the page, under Password Requirements, read the information.
  5. In the Password again text box, re-type the new network password.
  6. Click the Change password button.

Important: Remember to change the password on any devices that connect to VT-Wireless or the remote access - virtual private network (VPN) to your new network password. Otherwise, those devices will not be able to connect.

Note: It could take up to five minutes for the Virginia Tech systems and network to accept the new network password.
