To configure Windows Mail to connect to the Exchange server:
- Start Windows Mail.
- From the Tools drop-down list, select Accounts....
- Click the Add... button.
- Select Email Account.
- Click Next.
- In the Display name: text box, type your name as you want it to appear on messages you send.
- Click Next.
- In the Email address: text box, type: [Your Hokies ID]@exchange.vt.edu
Note: Replace [Your Hokies ID] with your Hokies ID.
- Click Next.
- From the Incoming email server type: drop-down list, select IMAP.
- In the Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server: text box, type: exsecure.vt.edu
- In the Outgoing email server (SMTP) name: text box, type: auth.smtp.vt.edu
- Place a check in the Outgoing server requires authentication check box.
- Click Next.
- Clear the Remember password check box.
- Click Next.
- Place a check in the Do not download my email and folders at this time check box.
- Click Finish.
- In the Internet Accounts window, click the Properties button.
- Select the Servers tab.
- Click the Settings... button.
- Select the Log on using radio button.
- Clear the Remember password check box.
- In the Email username: text box, type your PID.
- Click OK.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Clear the Outgoing mail (SMTP): text box.
- In the Outgoing mail (SMTP): text box, type: 465
- Under Outgoing mail (SMTP):, place a check in the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) check box.
- Under Incoming mail (IMAP): place a check in the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) check box.
Note: The port number will change from 143 to 993.
- Click OK.
- Click the Close button.
- If asked to download folders from the mail server:
- Click the Yes button.
- In the Password: text box, type your Hokies password.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
