How do I connect to the VT-Wireless wireless network using my Android 2.x device?

Answer:

Note: For Virginia Tech students, current registration for Virginia Tech wireless services using COLA (https://cola.cns.vt.edu/servlets/logon) is required to access the VT-Wireless wireless network.

To connect to the VT-Wireless wireless network on an Android 2.x device:
  1. If you have not already done so, create a network password. For instructions, see Creating a Network Password (http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/3765/).
  2. Connect to the VT-Wireless wireless network.
    1. Tap the Home key.
    2. Tap the Menu key.
    3. Tap the Settings button.
    4. From the menu, tap Wireless networks.
    5. Tap Wi-Fi settings.
    6. If you have previously connected to VT_WLAN on this device:
      1. Tap and hold VT_WLAN.
      2. Tap Forget network.
    7. If you have previously connected to VT-Wireless on this device:
      1. Tap and hold VT-Wireless.
      2. Tap Forget network.
    8. Toggle the Wi-Fi off and on.
      1. Clear the Wi-Fi check box.
      2. Place a check in the Wi-Fi check box.
    9. Tap VT-Wireless.
    10. If it is not already selected, from the EAP method drop-down list, tap PEAP.
    11. From the Phase 2 authentication drop-down list, tap MSCHAPv2.
    12. In the Identity text box, type your PID.
    13. In the Password text box, type your network password.
    14. Tap Connect.
