Important: In order for these directions to work, you must be logged on to your Hokies domain account profile in Windows.
To configure Outlook to connect to the Virginia Tech Exchange Server:
- Verify that Outlook is closed.
- View the user mail settings.
- In Vista/7:
- Click the Start button.
- Select Control Panel.
- Click the User Accounts link.
- Click the Mail link.
- In 8:
- On the Start screen, type: mail
- In the right pane, click the Settings icon.
- Click the Mail tile.
- Depending on whether there are other email accounts already configured or not:
- If there are no other email accounts configured:
- Click the Add... button.
- Type a name you want for the profile.
- Click OK.
- If there are other email accounts configured:
- Click the E-mail Accounts... button.
- Click the New... button.
- Choose to create the account manually.
- In 2010, select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types radio button.
- In 2013, select the Manual setup or additional server types radio button.
- Click Next.
- Choose the Exchange type.
- In 2010, select the Microsoft Exchange or compatible service radio button.
- In 2013, select the Microsoft Exchange Server or compatible service radio button.
- Click Next.
- In the Server: text box, type: exchange.vt.edu
- In the User Name: text box, type your Hokies ID.
- Click the Check Name button.
- If prompted for credentials:
- In the User name text box, type your Hokies ID.
- In the Password text box, type your Hokies ID password.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- If the Mail Delivery Location window appears, click OK.
- Click the Finish button.
- Close all windows.
