How do I enable or disable the power-saving feature in Windows Vista/7?

Answer:

  1. On your desktop, right-click in an open area.
  2. Select Personalize.
  3. Select Screen Saver.
  4. Click the Change power settings link.
  5. Select a power plan.
    • In Vista:
      1. Under Preferred plans, select the Balanced radio button.
      2. Under Balanced, select Change plan settings.
    • In 7:
      1. Under Select a power plan, select the Balanced (recommended) radio button.
      2. To the right of Balanced (recommended), click the Change plan settings link.
  6. Enable or disable the power-saving feature.
    • To enable the power-saving feature, from the Turn off the display: drop-down list, select a time after which you want the monitor to go into power-saving mode.
    • To disable the power-saving feature, from the Turn off the display: drop-down list, select Never.
  7. Click the Save changes button.
  8. Close the Power Options window.
  9. Close the Screen Saver Settings window.
  10. Close the Personalization window.
