Question:
How do I drop or add classes in Hokie SPA?

Answer:

Note: You can drop and add classes only during the times when Drop/Add is available.

  1. Go to Hokie SPA (http://hokiespa.vt.edu).
  2. Log on using your PID and password.
  3. Click on the Hokie Spa tab.
  4. Click the Registration and Schedule link.
  5. Under the Process column, click the Drop/Add link in the row that corresponds to the term to be altered.
  6. Select the classes you want to drop or add.
    • To drop a class:
      1. From the Drop drop-down list next to the class, select Yes.
      2. Click the Submit Changes button.
    • To add a class:
      • If you know the Course Registration Numbers (CRNs) of the classes you want to add:
        1. Under Add Classes Worksheet, type the CRNs in the text boxes.
        2. Click the Submit Changes button.
      • If you do not know the CRNs of the classes, or you want to look up more courses, repeat the following for each class you want to add:
        1. Click the Class Search button.
        2. From the Subject list, select the subject of the class you want to add.
        3. Complete any combination of the remaining fields to narrow your search.
        4. Click the Class Search button.
        5. Place a check in the check box next to the class you want to add.

          Notes:

          • The CRN is the number in the farthest left column.
          • The course number, title, days and time are listed for each class.
          • The "Cap" number is the capacity of the class. This is how many people are allowed to register for this section of this class.
          • The "Act" number is the actual current enrollment of the class.
          • The "Rem" number is the number of seats remaining in the class. If no seats open before Drop/Add closes, see the department for Force/Add information.

        6. Click the Add to Worksheet button.
        7. Click the Submit Changes button.
