How do I rent a Virtual Dedicated Windows Server (VDWS) Virtual Machine Guest?
Answer:
  1. Contact your IT administrator(s) to discuss:
    • Your specific needs for a Windows server
    • Which applications you will run on the server
    • What resources will be needed on the server
  2. Have your IT administrator(s) complete the VDWS Virtual Dedicated Windows Server) guest specification form.

    Note: You will need a valid PID and PID password to access this form.

  3. Have your dean, director, or department head, primary IT administrator contact, and secondary IT administrator contact complete the VDWS (Virtual Dedicated Windows Server) Production SLA (Service level agreement).

    Note: You will need a valid PID and PID password to access this form.

  4. Create an ISR for the yearly rental costs as calculated on the completed guest specification form. 

    Note: This service is not available through HokieMart and must be ordered via paper ISR.

  5. Send the completed forms to: VDWS - c/o Marc DeBonis, Mail Stop 0479.
  6. Once the forms are received and verified, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.
    • You will be sent instructions on how to access and manage your guest(s).
    • Your IT Administrator(s) will be signed up for an internal VDWS LISTSERV list.
