Question:

When I try to download or install Symantec Endpoint Protection for Windows XP/Vista/7, I receive an error message. What should I do?

Answer:

When the Symantec Endpoint Protection installer doesn't download correctly, you will receive an error message such as:

[File Name] is not a valid Win32 application

Note: [File Name] will be replaced with the name of the file you downloaded.
unable to read cab data

To fix this problem, delete the file you downloaded, and do one of the following:

Download the software again from the Symantec Antivirus Downloads (https://secure.hosting.vt.edu/www.antivirus.vt.edu/download/index.php) page.
Install Symantec Endpoint Protection using the latest VTnet CD. Refer to Obtaining the Most Recent Version of VTnet (http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/1091/).
