How do I connect my iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) to the VT-Wireless wireless network?

Answer:

Note: For Virginia Tech students, current registration for Virginia Tech wireless services using COLA () is required to access the VT-Wireless wireless network.

To connect an iOS device to the VT-Wireless wireless network:
  1. If you have not already done so, create a network password. For instructions, see Creating a Network Password (http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/3765/).
  2. If you previously connected to VT-Wireless by downloading and installing a network certificate, delete all certificates. For detailed instructions, see Deleting an Expired Certificate from My iOS Mobile Device (http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/3678/).
  3. Connect to the VT-Wireless wireless network.
    1. On the home screen, tap the Settings icon.
    2. Under Settings, tap Wi-Fi.
    3. If you have connected to VT_WLAN before on this device:
      1. To the right of VT_WLAN, tap the wireless network settings icon.

        Note: The wireless network settings icon is represented by a circle with a right arrow inside it.

      2. Tap the Forget this Network button.
      3. Tap the Forget button.
      4. Tap the Wi-Fi Networks button.
    4. If you have connected to VT-Wireless before on this device:
      1. To the right of VT-Wireless, tap the wireless network settings icon.

        Note: The wireless network settings icon is represented by a circle with a right arrow inside it.

      2. Tap the Forget this Network button.
      3. Tap the Forget button.
      4. Tap the Wi-Fi Networks button.
    5. Tap VT-Wireless.
    6. In the Username text box, type your PID.
    7. In the Password text box, type your network password.
    8. Tap the Join button.
    9. Tap the Accept button.
