Running the Task Scheduler in Windows Vista/7

Question:
How can I set tasks to run at a specific time and date in Windows Vista/7?

Answer:
  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Select All Programs.
  3. Select Accessories.
  4. Select System Tools.
  5. Select Task Scheduler.
  6. In Windows Vista, click the Continue button.
  7. In the right pane, under Actions, select Create Basic Task....
  8. In the Name: text box, type a name for the task.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Select the radio button corresponding to how often you want the task to run.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Set the start date and time when you want the program to run.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Select the radio button corresponding to the action you want Task Scheduler to perform.
  15. Click Next.
  16. Depending on the action you selected:
    • If you selected Start a program:
      1. Click the Browse... button.
      2. Locate and select the program to be used.
      3. Click the Open button.
      4. Click Next.
      5. Click Finish.
    • If you selected Send an e-mail:
      1. In the From: text box, type the name of the sender.
      2. In the To: text box, type the name of the recipient.
      3. In the Subject: text box, type a subject for the email message.
      4. In the Text: text box, type the message.
      5. If you want to add an attachment:
        1. Click the Browse... button.
        2. Locate and select the file to attach.
        3. Click the Open button.
      6. In the SMTP server: text box, type your SMTP server address.
      7. Click Next.
      8. Click Finish.
    • If you selected Display a message:
      1. In the Title: text box, type a title for the message.
      2. In the Message: text box, type the message.
      3. Click Next.
      4. Click Finish.
  17. Close the Task Scheduler window.
