Laptop Will Not Hold Internet Connection in Windows Vista

Question:
My laptop has trouble staying connected to the Internet in Windows Vista. What should I do?
Answer:

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Right-click Computer.
  3. From the drop-down list, select Properties.
  4. Under Tasks, click the Device Manager link.
  5. If prompted, click Continue.
  6. Double-click the Network Adapters icon.
  7. Under the Network Adapters list, right-click your network adapter.
  8. From the drop-down list, select Properties.
  9. Select the Power Management tab.
  10. Clear the Allow the Computer to Turn Off This Device to Save Power check box.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Restart your computer.

    Note: If your network card is still not responding:
    1. Shut down your computer.
    2. Unplug the power adapter from your laptop.
    3. Remove your computer's battery.
    4. Wait 30 seconds.
    5. Reinsert the battery into the laptop.
    6. Reconnect your laptop's power adapter.
    7. Turn on your laptop. If you still cannot connect to the network, contact your laptop's vendor or manufacturer.
