Adding Announcements in Scholar

Question:
How do I add announcements in Scholar?

Answer:
  1. In the left column, click on Announcements.
  2. In the Announcements menu bar, click on the Add link.
  3. In the Announcement title text box, type the subject you want for your announcement.
  4. In the Body text box, type and format your announcement.
  5. Under Access, choose who will see your announcement.
    1. To display the announcement to members of the site only, select the Only members of this site radio button.
    2. To display the announcement to people outside of the site, select the This announcement is publicly viewable radio button.
    3. To display the announcement to specific groups, select the Display this announcement to selected groups only radio button. When Display this announcement to selected groups only is selected, place a check in or clear the check boxes next to the groups or sections to which you want to display the announcement.
  6. Under Availability, select when to display the announcement:
    1. To display the announcement immediately, select the Show radio button.
    2. To save it as a draft without publishing it, select the Hide radio button.
    3. To specify dates to display the announcement, select the Specify Dates radio button. Use the Beginning and Ending drop-down menus to choose the dates and times you want to display the announcement.
  7. To attach a file, hyperlink, or resource, click the Add Attachments link.
  8. To indicate whether site participants should receive an e-mail when the announcement is posted, select an option from the Email Notification drop-down menu.
    1. To e-mail all participants, select High - All participants.
    2. To e-mail participants that have opted in, select Low - Only participants who have opted in.
    3. To send no e-mail notices, select None - No notification.
  9. Choose one of the following options:
    • To add this announcement and display it on the Announcements home page, click on the Add Announcement link.
    • To clear the announcement, click on the Cancel link.
    • To preview the announcement, click on the Preview link. On the Announcement Preview page choose one of these options:
      • To add the announcement, click Add Announcement.
      • To edit the announcement and return to the Add Announcement screen, click Edit.
      • To return to the Add Announcement screen without adding the announcement, click Cancel.
