Modifying a Forum in Scholar

Question:
How do I modify a forum in Scholar?

Answer:
  1. In the left column, click on the Forums link.
  2. To the right of the title of the appropriate forum, click on Forum Settings.
  3. On the Forum Settings screen, modify any of the following:
    1. In the Forum Title text box, type a new name you want for the forum.
    2. In the Short Description text box, type a short description (up to 100 characters) you want for the forum that will appear under the forum title on the Forums home page.
    3. In the Description text box, type any information you want about the forum that site participants can access from the Forums home page.
    4. To add an attachment for participants to read, click on the Add Attachment button.
    5. Beside Lock Forum (Disable forum postings):
      • To prevent participants from posting messages to this forum, click on the Yes radio button.
      • To allow participants to post messages in this forum, click on the No radio button.
    6. Beside Moderate Topics in Forum:
      • To allow participants in one or more roles to moderate forum posts, click the Yes radio button.
      • To prevent users in any role from moderating forum posts, click the No radio button.
    7. Under the Permissions section:
      1. In the list beside Role, select the role you want to modify.
      2. Beside Permission Level, use the drop-down menu to select the permission level you want for that role.
      3. To modify any permissions you want for a selected role, check or clear any associated check boxes for that level.
      4. To choose participants that can edit postings, beside Edit Postings, select the None, Own, or All radio button.
      5. To choose participants that can delete postings, beside Delete Postings, select the None, Own, or All radio button.
      6. To associate the forum with a specific pre-existing assignment in the Gradebook, select the assignment from the Gradebook Item: drop-down menu.
  4. To save the changes, click on the Save Settings button.
    • To save the forum as a draft that will not be displayed to site participants, click on the Save Draft button.
    • To save the changes and add a topic to the forum, click on the Save Settings & Add Topic button.
    • To delete the forum, click on the Delete button.
    • To return to the Forums home page without saving the changes to the forum, clickon the Cancel button.
