- Connect to Dreamweaver 8.
- From pull down menu, select Site.
- Select New Site.
- Under the box labeled, "What would you like to name your site?" type: www.charlie.vt.edu/.
- Under the box labeled, "What is the HTTP Address (URL) of your site?" type: webdav.hosting.vt.edu/www.charlie.vt.edu.
- Click Next.
- Make sure the button labeled "No, I don't want to use a server technology" is selected.
- Click Next.
- Leave the button "Edit local copies on my machine, then upload them to server when ready (recommended)" selected.
- From the "Where on your computer to do want to store your files?" menu, click on the folder icon and find the document directory that you created.
- Click Next.
- From the "How do you connect to your remote server?" drop-down menu, select "Web DAV"
- In "What is the URL of your WebDAV server?" type: webdav.hosting.vt.edu/www.charlie.vt.edu.
- Type your VT PID in "What is your WebDAV login?".
- Type your VT PID password in "What is your WebDAV password?".
- Test your connection to the hosting server by clicking on "Test Connection".
- If the connect was successful you will receive the following message:"Macromedia Dreamweaver connected to your Web server successfully".
- Click OK.
- Click "No, do not enable check in and check out."
- Click Next.
- Dreamweaver will then give you the settings for your Web Site.
- Click Done.
