- Question:
- When I try to log on to CNS' Wireless Service, I get an error message. My PID and password work on other Virginia Tech sites. What is wrong?
- Answer:
CNS' Wireless Service is limited to 15-character passwords. This application is from an outside vendor who has different password restrictions that cannot be modified by Virginia Tech. You will receive one of the following error messages if this is the problem:
- "ERROR
PID/Password combo not found.Attempt 1 of 5.Please hit the back button and try again." - "Invalid name or password."
To avoid receiving an error message:
- Change your PID password to contain 15 or fewer characters, but not less than 8. For instructions on changing your password, see Changing Your PID Password (http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/258/).
- Access Wireless Service using the Virtual Private Network (VPN) service to avoid using the wireless logon page. For information on VPN and instructions on how to use the service, see Virtual Private Network (VPN) Access (http://www.computing.vt.edu/internet_and_web/internet_access/vpn.html).
