Important: Log on to Windows with an account with computer administrator privileges.
To install the VTCA root certificate:
- Download the VTCA Root Certificate (https://secure.hosting.vt.edu/www.pki.vt.edu/download/root/cacert.crt).
- Place a check in the Trust This CA to Identify Web Sites check box.
- Place a check in the Trust This CA to Identify Email Users check box.
- Place a check in the Trust This CA to Identify Software Developers check box.
- Click OK.
Note: If you receive an encryption warning, click OK.
- From the Tools menu, select Options.
- Click on Advanced from the menu.
- Select the Encryption tab.
- Click the View Certificates link.
- Select the Authorities tab.
- Select Virginia Tech Root CA.
- Click the View button.
- Verify that the fingerprints display as:
"SHA1 FingerprintAF:6F:EB:42:FA:2F:E4:A2:6E:9F:7F:B5:B5:FF:3A:BC:13:C6:0D:81"
"MD5 Fingerprint CE:03:7C:49:13:54:5B:F5:D3:70:7A:18:4C:FC:25:30" - Click the Close button.
- Close the Certificate Manager window.
- Click OK.
