Answer:

Important: Log on to Mac OS with an account with computer administrator privileges.

To install the VTCA root certificate:

  1. Download the VTCA Root Certificate (https://secure.hosting.vt.edu/www.pki.vt.edu/download/root/cacert.crt). The certificate will save to your desktop.
  2. Double-click the cacert.crt icon on your desktop.
  3. In the Keychain: drop-down menu, select X509Anchors.
  4. Click OK.
  5. At the Password prompt, type your PID and password.
  6. Verify that the certificate is installed properly.
    1. From the Go menu, select Applications.
    2. Double-click the Utilities folder.
    3. Double-click the Keychain Access icon.
    4. Click the Keychains icon.
    5. Select X509Anchors.
    6. From the Name list, double-click on the Virginia Tech Root CA.
    7. Verify that the fingerprints display as:
      "SHA1: AF 6F EB 42 FA 2F E4 A2 6E 9F 7F B5 FF 3A BC 13 C6 0D 81"
      "MD5: CE 03 7C 49 13 54 5B F5 D3 70 7A 18 4C FC 25 30"
    8. Close the Virginia Tech Root CA window.
    9. Close the Keychain Access window.
    10. Close any other open windows.
