Important: Log on to Mac OS with an account with computer administrator privileges.
To install the VTCA root certificate:
- Download the VTCA Root Certificate (https://secure.hosting.vt.edu/www.pki.vt.edu/download/root/cacert.crt). The certificate will save to your desktop.
- Double-click the cacert.crt icon on your desktop.
- In the Keychain: drop-down menu, select X509Anchors.
- Click OK.
- At the Password prompt, type your PID and password.
- Verify that the certificate is installed properly.
- From the Go menu, select Applications.
- Double-click the Utilities folder.
- Double-click the Keychain Access icon.
- Click the Keychains icon.
- Select X509Anchors.
- From the Name list, double-click on the Virginia Tech Root CA.
- Verify that the fingerprints display as:
"SHA1: AF 6F EB 42 FA 2F E4 A2 6E 9F 7F B5 FF 3A BC 13 C6 0D 81"
"MD5: CE 03 7C 49 13 54 5B F5 D3 70 7A 18 4C FC 25 30"
- Close the Virginia Tech Root CA window.
- Close the Keychain Access window.
- Close any other open windows.
