Important: Log on to your computer with an account with computer administrator privileges.
To install the VTCA root certificate:
- Download the VTCA Root Certificate (http://www.pki.vt.edu/developer/rootca.html#user).
- Place a check in the Trust this CA to identify web sites check box.
- Place a check in the Trust this CA to identify email users check box.
- Place a check in the Trust this CA to identify software developers check box.
- Click OK.
- Verify that the certificate is installed properly:
- Open your certificate options:
- In Firefox 3.6 for Windows, from the Tools menu, select Options....
- In Firefox 3.6 for Mac OS X, from the Firefox menu, select Preferences....
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Select the Encryption tab.
- Click the View Certificates button.
- Select the Authorities tab.
- From the list, under Virginia Tech Root CA, select Virginia Tech Root CA.
- Click the View... button.
- Verify that the fingerprints display as follows:
- SHA1 Fingerprint: "AF:6F:EB:42:FA:2F:E4:A2:6E:9F:7F:B5:B5:FF:3A:BC:13:C6:0D:81"
- MD5 Fingerprint: "CE:03:7C:49:13:54:5B:F5:D3:70:7A:18:4C:FC:25:30"
- Click the Close button.
- Click OK.
- Close the Advanced window.
