- How do I configure Outlook 2003 to view newsgroups?
- Answer:
Outlook 2003 uses Outlook Express to view newsgroups. When you configure Outlook to view newsgroups, Outlook Express Newsreader will open automatically.
- Configure Outlook Express to connect to the Virginia Tech news server. For instructions, refer to Configuring Outlook Express 5/6 for Windows to View Newgroups (http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/2279/).
- Start Outlook.
- From the Tools menu, select Customize.
- Select the Commands tab.
- From the Categories list, select Go.
- From the Commands list, select News.
- Drag News from the Commands list to the Go menu, and then select where you want it to appear in the menu.
- In the Customize window, click the Close button.
- From the Go menu, select News.
- From the Folders list, select news.vt.edu.
- Click the Yes button.
- Repeat the following for each newsgroup to which you want to subscribe:
- From the list of newsgroups, select the newsgroup.
- Click the Subscribe button.
- Click OK.
- From the Folders list, select news.vt.edu.
- Repeat the following for each newsgroup to which you subscribed:
- In the synchronization window, select the newsgroup.
- Click the Settings button, and select All Messages.
- Click the Synchronize Account button.
