How do I back up my registry in Windows XP/Vista/7?

Answer:
  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Start the Run utility.
    • In Windows XP, select Run....
    • In Windows Vista/7:
      1. Select All Programs.
      2. Select Accessories.
      3. Select Run.
  3. In the Open: text box, type: regedit
  4. Click OK.
  5. Confirm that you want to run the Registry Editor utility.
    • In Vista, click the Continue button.
    • In 7, click the Yes button.
  6. From the File drop-down list, select Export...
  7. Navigate to the location where you want to store your backup.
  8. In the File name: text box, type: BACKUP
  9. Click the Save button.
  10. Close the Registry Editor window.
