Important: You must register for wireless service at Virginia Tech before configuring your computer. See
CNS Wireless Registration.
To connect to the VT_WLAN Wireless network:
- From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
- Click the Network icon.
- From the Show drop-down list, select AirPort.
Note: If AirPort is not included in the drop-down list:
- From the Show drop-down list, select Network Port Configurations.
- Under On, place a check in the check box next to AirPort.
- Select the AirPort tab.
- Select the Virginia Tech Wireless Network.
- Select the Join a Specific Network option.
- From the Network drop-down list, select VT_WLAN.
- Select the TCP/IP tab.
- From the Configure IPv4 drop-down list, select Using DHCP.
- In the Search Domains text box, type: vt.edu
- Click the Apply Now button.
- From the System Preferences menu, select Quit System Preferences.
- Open your Web browser.
- Go to the Virginia Tech homepage (http://www.vt.edu/). You will be redirected to a network confirmation screen.
- In the PID text box, type your PID.
- In the Password text box, type your password.
- Click the Log In button.
