Changing Your PID Password

How do I change my PID password?

Important: This article applies to those who know their current PID password and want to change it. If you have forgotten your password, see Changing Your Forgotten PID Password.

To change your PID password:

  1. Go to the My VT Web page.
  2. Click the Log on with CAS link.
  3. If prompted enter credentials:
    1. In the Username text box, type your Virginia Tech PID.
    2. In the Password text box, type your PID password. If you have forgotten your password, see Changing Your Forgotten PID Password.
    3. Click the Login button.
  4. Near the top of the window, to the right of Home, click the Personal Info tab link.
  5. Under Contact Info, click the Manage your Accounts link.
  6. In the PID account overview section, to the right of your name, click the Change password link.
  7. In the Current password text box, type your current PID password.
  8. In the New password text box, type a new password by following the Password Requirements on the right of the page.
  9. In the New password again text box, re-type the new password.
  10. Click the Change Password button.

Note: Since many online services, such as My VT, Scholar, and Hokie SPA, require using your PID to log on, you will need to use your new password when logging on to these services.
