Manually Scanning Your Computer with Symantec Endpoint Protection for Windows

How do I manually scan my computer with Symantec Endpoint Protection in Windows?

Note: 4Help highly recommends that you install the latest version of Symantec. A Symantec download is available at no charge for current Virginia Tech students, faculty, staff, and retirees from the antivirus.vt.edu Web page (http://virus.vt.edu/download/). For instructions, see Downloading and Installing Symantec Endpoint Protection for Windows XP/Vista/7 and Windows 2003/2008 Server (http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/2808).

To manually scan your computer:
  1. Close all programs.
  2. Run LiveUpdate. For instructions, see Running LiveUpdate in Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 for Windows (http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/1392/).
  3. In the left pane, click the Scan for threats link.
  4. Click the Full Scan button.

    Note: The scan may take several minutes to over an hour depending on the number of files on each drive and your processor's speed.
