- Question:

- Answer:
-
Important: Spyware detection and removal programs, including Ad-Aware, do not always catch every spyware program when used alone. For better security, use more than one spyware detection program on your computer.
For example, use both Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware.
Important: Ad-aware is free for individual use only. To use the software in your office, you must purchase an end-user license.
To scan your computer for spyware:
- Start Ad-Aware.
- Click the Update button.
Note: If you receive an error message, click OK and run Webupdate.
- Click the Connect button.
- In response to the "Would You Like To Update the Definitions File Now," question window, click Yes.
- Click OK.
- Click Finish.
- In the Ad-Aware 2007 window, click the Scan Now button.
- Choose whether you want a Smart, Full, or Custom scan.
- A Smart scan scans all of your computer's critical processes.
- A Full scan scans your entire system.
- A Custom scan scans only the elements that you have selected to be scanned.
- Click Scan.
Note: Depending on what the Ad-Ware program finds, some of the following steps may or may not be included.
- Next to each object found, place a check in the check box.
- Click the Quarantine button.
- Click Finish.
- In the Ad-Aware 2007 window, click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click OK.
- Click the Open Quarantine List link.
- Select the quarantined file.
- Click the Delete button.
- Click OK.
