- Start Evolution.
- Click the Contacts button.
- In your contacts list, right-click in the white space, and select New Address Book.
- Select the Basic tab.
- From the Type drop-down list, select On LDAP Server.
- In the Name text box, type: Virginia Tech Directory
- In the Server text box, type: directory.vt.edu
- In the Port text box, type: 389
- From the Use Secure Connection drop-down list, select No Encryption.
- From the Log in Method drop-down list, select Anonymously.
- Select the Details tab.
- In the Search Base text box, type: dc=vt,dc=edu
- From the Search Scope drop-down list, select Sub.
- Click the Add Address Book button.
Important: If you are unable to connect to the Virginia Tech Directory, try changing the Search Base text box to: dc=vt, dc=edu
