How do I display or conceal hidden files and folders in Windows XP/Vista/7?

Answer:
  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. View the appearance settings.
    • In Windows XP, click the Appearance and Themes link.
    • In Windows Vista/7, click the Appearance and Personalization link.
  4. Click the Folder Options link.
  5. Select the View tab.
  6. Choose whether to display or conceal hidden files and folders.
    • In XP/Vista:
      • If you want to display hidden files and folders, select the Show hidden files and folders radio button.
      • If you want to conceal hidden files and folders, select the Do not show hidden files and folders radio button.
    • In 7:
      • If you want to display hidden files and folders, select the Show hidden files, folders, and drives radio button.
      • If you want to conceal hidden files and folders, select the Don't show hidden files, folders, or drives radio button.
  7. Click OK.
