There are two ways to access your personal space on the NAS. You can either map a drive or use the Uniform Naming Convention method:
- Mapping a network drive method:
- Open your computer's properties.
In Windows 2000:
- Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
- From the Tools menu, select Map Network Drive....
In Windows XP:
- Click the Start button, and select My Computer.
- From the Tools menu, select Map Network Drive....
In Windows Vista:
- Double-click the Computer icon on your desktop.
- Click on the Map network drive link.
- From the Drive drop-down list, select the drive letter you want to map.
- In the Folder text box, type: \\storage.vt.edu[\Your mystore location][\Your Hokies ID]
- If you would like the drive to be mapped each time you log on to your workstation, place a check in the Reconnect at logon check box.
- If you are logged on to your Hokies account, click Finish. If not:
- Click the different user name link.
- In the User name: text box, type: Hokies[Your Hokies ID]
Note: Replace [Your Hokies ID] with your Hokies ID.
- In the Password: text box, type your Hokies password.
- Click OK.
- Click Finish.
- Using the Uniform Naming Convention (UNC) method:
- Open your computer's Run utility.
In Windows 2000/XP:
- Click the Start button.
- Select Run.
In Windows Vista:
- Click the Start button.
- In the Start Search text box, type: Run.
- Click on Run.
- In the Open: text box, type: \\storage.vt.edu[\Your mystore location][\Your Hokies ID]
- Click OK.
- If you are not logged on with your Hokies ID and password:
- In the Connect As text box, type: Hokies[Your Hokies ID]
Note: Replace [Your Hokies ID] with your Hokies ID.
- In the Password text box, type your Hokies password.
- Click OK.
