- Click the Start button.
- Select Control Panel.
- Select Appearance and Themes.
- Click the Display link.
- Select the Desktop tab.
- Change your background settings.
- To remove your background image, from the Background: list, select (None).
- To set your background to an image file or HTML document:
- To select an existing background, from the Background list, select the image or document you want to use.
- To select a file from another folder or storage device:
- Click the Browse... button.
- Locate the file you want to use.
- Click the Open button.
- To change the positioning of your background image, from the Position: drop-down list, select how you want to position your image.
- To set the background color of your desktop, from the Color: drop-down list, select a background color.
- Click OK.
- Close the Appearance and Themes window.
