How do I configure Eudora 7.1 for Windows to connect to the Virginia Tech Exchange Server?

Students, alums, faculty, and staff members can find information about their VT Mail account on the VT Mail page (http://www.computing.vt.edu/email_and_calendaring/vt_mail/index.html).

To configure Eudora to connect to the Virginia Tech Exchange server:
  1. Start Eudora.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Options....
  3. Under Category:, click the Getting Started icon.
  4. In the Real Name: text box, type your name as you want it to appear in messages you send.
  5. In the Email Address: text box, type: [Your Hokies ID]@exchange.vt.edu

    Note: Replace [Your Hokies ID] with your Hokies ID.

  6. In the Mail Server (Incoming): text box, type: exsecure.vt.edu
  7. In the User Name: text box, type your Hokies ID.
  8. In the SMTP Server (Outgoing): text box, type: auth.smtp.vt.edu
  9. Under Category:, click the Checking Mail icon.
  10. From the Secure Sockets When Receiving drop-down list, select Required, Alternate Port.
  11. Under Category:, click the Incoming Mail icon.
  12. To the right of Server Configuration:, select the IMAP option.
  13. Under Category:, click the Sending Mail icon.
  14. From the Secure Sockets When Sending drop-down list, select Required, Alternate Port.
  15. Click OK.
  16. From the File menu, select Check Mail.
  17. In the Password: text box, type your Hokies password. 
  18. Click OK.
