  • Outlook for Windows and Entourage for Mac OS were designed to be the e-mail clients of choice when accessing an Exchange server. If you use any other e-mail client, you should expect some quirks. For Outlook and Entourage instructions, see the appropriate information:
  • Faculty and staff members can find information about getting an Exchange account on the Exchange page (http://www.computing.vt.edu/email_and_calendaring/exchange/index.html). Students, alums, faculty, and staff members can find information about their VT Mail account on the VT Mail page (http://www.computing.vt.edu/email_and_calendaring/vt_mail/index.html).

To configure Eudora to connect to the Exchange server via IMAP:

  1. Start Eudora.
  2. From the Special menu, select Settings.
  3. From the list on the left, select Getting Started.
  4. In the User Name text box, type: [Your Hokies ID]
    Note: Replace [Your Hokies ID] with your Hokies ID.
  5. In the Mail Server text box, type: exsecure.vt.edu
  6. In the Real Name text box, type your name as you want it to appear on messages you send.
  7. In the SMTP Server text box, type auth.smtp.vt.edu
  8. In the E-Mail Address text box, type: [Your Hokies ID]@exchange.vt.edu
    Note: Replace [Your Hokies ID] with your Hokies ID.
  9. From thelist on the left, select Checking Mail.
  10. Select the IMAP option.
  11. From the list on the left, select Sending Mail.
  12. Place a check in the Allow authorization check box.
  13. From thelist on the left, select SSL.
  14. From theSSL for SMTP drop-down list, selectRequired (Alternate Port).
  15. From the SSL for IMAP drop-down list, select Required (Alternate Port).
  16. Click OK.

Important: When checking your Exchange e-mail account, you must use your Hokies ID and password.
