How do I manually run Windows Update in Windows XP?

To perform a Windows Update in Windows XP:
  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Select All Programs.
  3. Select Windows Update.
  4. Click the Install button.
  5. If available, click the Update Windows button.
  6. Click the Express button.
  7. Click the Install Updates button.

    Note: If the Install Updates button is grayed out, there are no new updates to install.

  8. After the updates are installed, click the Restart Now button.
