The best way to avoid unwanted e-mail (often known as spam) is to protect the privacy of your e-mail address. This article explains how to filter unwanted messages based on predefined keywords in the subject and body. These keywords were determined by Microsoft, and are separate from the Virginia Tech spam filtering system. Organize your Inbox to send junk e-mail messages to a separate folder. To do this:

1. From the Tools menu, select Organize.
2. Click the New Folder... link.
3. In the Name text box, type: Junk Mail
4. Click OK.
5. Close the Ways to Organize Inbox window.
