A wavy monitor display usually indicates that the refresh rate is not properly set. To set the refresh rate to the optimal setting:
  • In XP:
    1. On your desktop, right-click an empty area.
    2. From the drop-down list, select Properties.
    3. Select the Settings tab.
    4. Click the Advanced button.
    5. Select the Monitor tab.
    6. From the Screen refresh rate: drop-down list, select the highest refresh rate available.
    7. Click OK.
    8. Click OK.
  • In Vista:
    1. On your desktop, right-click an empty area.
    2. Select Personalize.
    3. Click the Display Settings link.
    4. Click the Advanced Settings... button.
    5. Select the Monitor tab.
    6. From the Screen refresh rate: drop-down list, select the highest refresh rate available.
    7. Click OK.
    8. Click OK.
  • In 7/8:
    1. On your desktop, right-click an empty area.
    2. Select Screen resolution.
    3. Click the Advanced settings link.
    4. Select the Monitor tab.
    5. From the Screen refresh rate: drop-down list, select the highest refresh rate available.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Click OK.

Note: Some monitors cannot be set to the highest refresh rate available. If your monitor will not allow you to set the refresh rate to the highest rate available, set your monitor to the highest rate possible.
