Course Not Listed in Blackboard
Time to Complete (in minutes): 10
Question:
When I log on to Blackboard and try to access my courses, my course does not appear or I receive a "You are not currently enrolled in any available courses in the Blackboard system" error message. What is wrong and what should I do?

Answer:

Here are some possibilities for why your course is not listed in Blackboard.

  • You have just added the course through Drop/Add. You will not be able to access it immediately because the system takes six to twelve hours to update.
  • Your instructor has not yet made your course available to students. If you know that your course has an associated Blackboard course, but you still cannot access it, please contact your instructor.
  • Your course does not have an associated Blackboard course. Please wait for the first day of class to see which of your courses have an associated Blackboard course.
  • Your course uses a different system for dispersing class material. MIT (Masters of Information Technology) courses can only be accessed through the Virginia Tech Masters in Information Technology Web page (http://mit.iddl.vt.edu).
  • Your name is not listed on the class roster in Blackboard. If you were previously able to access a course but now cannot, contact your professor about the problem. Ask your professor to check the enrollment and verify that your name is on the class roster. If it is, then your professor needs to send an e-mail to the 4Help Customer Support Center (http://4help.vt.edu/) and request that the problem be fixed.

Note: The list of courses that appear in your My Courses module may include Blackboard courses taken previously that the instructor has made accessible to previous students. If you do not want a previous course listed, contact your instructor.
