Important: You must have Microsoft Office installed on your computer to complete these instructions.
To correct the grayed out spelling tool:
- Click the Start button.
- Select Control Panel.
- Click the Add or Remove Programs link.
- Select the version of Microsoft Office that you use.
- Click the Change button.
- Select the Add or Remove Features radio button.
- Click Next.
- Place a check in the Choose advanced customizations of applications check box.
- Click Next.
- Double-click Office Shared Features.
- To the left of Proofing Tools, click the hard disk icon.
- From the drop-down list, select Run from My Computer.
- Click the Update button.
- Click OK.
- Close all windows.
