Add an e-mail account using [Your PID]@vt.edu as the e-mail address. Set your incoming mail server to POP3. In the Incoming Server: text box, type: pop.vt.edu. In the Outgoing Server: text box, type: auth.smtp.vt.edu. Set the outgoing and incoming server to use a secure connection (SSL). Set up a VPN connection that connects to pptp.cns.vt.edu. If you have a Hokies account, type your Hokies user name and type Hokies for your domain; otherwise, type your PID for your user name. Configure the connection to use Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP), connect even if there is no encryption, and use Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2). When connecting, if you have a Hokies account, type your Hokies password; otherwise, use your passphrase.

Verify your computer is prepared to connect to the VT-Wireless network. When ready, add a wireless network. For the name, which is case sensitive, type: VT-Wireless. Use WPA2-Enterprise for security and use AES for encryption. Set the connection to start automatically. For the authentication method, select Microsoft: Smart Card or Other Certificate.
