Question:
How do I install the Virginia Tech Certification Authority (VTCA) root certificate for Netscape 8 in Windows?
Answer:
Important: Log on to Windows with an account with computer administrator privileges.
To install the VTCA root certificate:

Download the VTCA Root Certificate (https://secure.hosting.vt.edu/www.pki.vt.edu/download/root/cacert.crt).

Place a check in the Trust This CA to Identify Web Sites check box.

Place a check in the Trust This CA to Identify Email Users check box.

Place a check in the Trust This CA to Identify Software Developers check box.

Click OK.
Note: If you receive an encryption warning, click OK.

From the Tools menu, select Options.

Select Advanced.

Select Certificates.

Click the Manage Certificates button.

Select the Authorities tab.

Select Virginia Tech Root CA.

Click the View button.

Verify that the fingerprints display as:
"SHA1 Fingerprint AF:6F:EB:42:FA:2F:E4:A2:6E:9F:7F:B5:B5:FF:3A:BC:13:C6:0D:81"
"MD5 Fingerprint CE:03:7C:49:13:54:5B:F5:D3:70:7A:18:4C:FC:25:30"

Click the Close button.

Close the Certificate Manager window.
