How do I install the Virginia Tech Certification Authority (VTCA) root certificate for Safari in Mac OS X v10.3/10.4?
Answer:
Important: Log on to Mac OS with an account with computer administrator privileges.
To install the VTCA root certificate:

Click on the VTCA Root Certificate Download link (http://www.pki.vt.edu/download/root/cacert.crt).

Download the certificate to your desktop.

In Mac OS X v10.4, press and hold the Control key, click the cacert.crt link, and then select Download Linked File.

In Mac OS X v10.3, press and hold the Control key, click the cacert.crt link, and then select Download Link to Disk.

On your desktop, double-click the cacert.crt file.

From the Keychain drop-down list, select X509Anchors.

Click OK.

In the Password text box, type your Mac OS passphrase.

Click OK.

Click the Show Keychains button.
Important: This small button is located at the bottom left of the Keychain Access window. If you do not see this button, quit the application and, at the point of double-clicking the cacert.crt file on your desktop, restart the instructions.

Select X509Anchors.

Double-click Virginia Tech Root CA.

Verify that the fingerprints display as:
"SHA1: AF 6F EB 42 FA 2F E4 A2 6E 9F 7F B5 B5 FF 3A BC 13 C6 0D 81"
"MD5: CE 03 7C 49 13 54 5B F5 D3 70 7A 18 4C FC 25 30"
